Iran-Italy Trade Reaches 1,273bn Liras During First Quarter of 2000

ROME An Italian official said here that total volume between Iran and Italy trade in the first quarter of this year stood at 1,273 billion liras ($630 million).
An official at Italian National Statistics Institute told IRNA here that in the period, Italy exported goods worth 279.5 billion liras to Iran while importing 993.8 billion liras worth of goods from Iran.
He put total weight of goods exported to and imported from Iran at 2,415,478 and 361 tons respectively.
Crude oil constituted 857 billion liras (86 percent) out of 993.8 billion liras worth of goods imported from Iran by Italy during the period.
Livestock products, worth 32 billion liras, textiles, worth 26 billion liras, and iron, steel and steel-made goods, worth 22 billion liras, were the major items imported from Iran by Italy during the period.
Special purpose machinery, worth 41 billion liras, equipment for generation and consumption of electric energy and motor equipment, worth 28.5 billion liras, basic chemical products, worth 27 billion liras, and general purpose machines, worth 19.5 billion liras, were major items exported to Iran by Italy in the first quarter of the year 2000.
